You guys. This session was so much fun! Jennifer and Rob are personal friends of mine and I’ve been photographing their family since her maternity expecting Emerson. I always start family sessions with the portrait group photo. We started in the master bedroom with as many of the fur babies we could find. There was a moment of panic when we couldn’t find one, but you wouldn’t see that here.
Then, we quickly got to the fun part of the session. Jennifer really wanted to capture the family being just that: the family, which doesn’t mean portrait, “everyone look at me” moments. Rather, we picked a few activities and let the day unfold.
Let’s start with November in Michigan… you can’t escape the snow! I don’t think I laughed that hard! Then, we dried off and ran in for some hot cocoa.
With full mugs of cocoa, the family engaged in one of their favorite standard pastimes: board games!
Rob won and the laughter ensued. I seriously love capturing families like this, because this is what you grow up remembering: all of that family togetherness and fun.
